The free-form shape of the Andiroba design resembles a sculptural hybrid between human and tree-like forms. The split shell exterior is finished on all sides, and pivots open to reveal the interior.
Originally conceived of as an awareness raising piece for the use of FSC certified sustainably harvested woods, the Andiroba derives its name from the wood that was used to make the original prototype.
This cabinet was commissioned as a humidor, with 7 sculpted drawers allowing for cigar storage and concealment of an internal humidification system. The cabinet exterior is Mottled Tangare, and the interior is Spanish Cedar.
The Andiroba Humidor was designed by John Wiggers.
